4 technical indicators of RF components

As the name implies, the radio-frequency interface is suitable for connecting radio-frequency signals.
RF components mainly have these specifications.

Impedance: RF connectors or coaxial cables will have a specific impedance, 50 ohms or 75 ohms. But as long as it is testing or connecting a specific radio frequency production, impedance matching must be done. Otherwise, the signal will be greatly lost in the transmission.

V.S.W.R(voltage standing wave ratio): The perfect voltage standing wave ratio is 1. However, due to space mechanics and materials, the value VSWR is always larger than 1, and most components are within 1.3.

Frequency Range: In civilian products, the frequency range is within DC-10GHz, what we design or manufacture is just to ensure the requirement satisfaction. In the higher military frequency is within 10GHz-110GHz, many technical parameters will be considered at this time. The calculation of loss is not simple, and some have phase and amplitude requirements.

Power: Power handling is determined by the two resistance losses (heating) and insulation breakdown. Although even decades of design are mainly pre-processing dozens of watts, today's design community focuses more on low-power devices such as mobile phones, picocells and femtocell base stations, video interfaces, and RF. These are in the 1W range, so the connector can be much smaller and its power rating is a smaller constraint.

For civilian RF components, products are designed into smaller and smaller spaces. At present, with conventional RF devices in those fast-moving days, most of the products are within 10GHz, but suppliers will be ordered to manufacture smaller components to meet customers' product space reduction requirements.
Similar to mobile phone RF connector manufacturers Murata and I-PEX, they have been promoting a new generation of micro rf components.
